Aurealis
Aurealis is looking for science fiction, fantasy or horror
short stories between 2000 and 8000 words. All types of science fiction,
fantasy and horror will be considered, but we do not want stories that
are derivative in nature, particularly those based on TV series.
ElectricSpec
ElectricSpec considers any story between 250 and 7000 words with speculative
fiction elements. We prefer science fiction, fantasy, and the macabre,
but we're willing to push the limits of traditional forms of these
genres.
The Christian Century

The Christian Century is an ecumenical
biweekly magazine that examines developments in the contemporary church
and probes the religious and moral issues of our day.
Open Spaces
Open Spaces is a quarterly which gives voice to the
Northwest on issues that are regional, national and international in
scope. Readership is thoughtful, intelligent, widely read and
appreciative of ideas and writing of the highest quality.
The Malahat Review

The Malahat Review publishes poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction by new and established writers from Canada and abroad as well as reviews of Canadian books. In alternate years, it runs the Long Poem (two $500 prizes) and Novella (one $500 prize) Contests and the poetry and fiction categories of the Far Horizons Award ($500). It also holds an annual Creative Non-fiction Contest (one $500 prize), as well as the annual Open Season Awards (one $1000 prize in each of three categories: poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction).

This is YOUR writing magazine, so feel free to contribute your work. We're especially in need of profile pieces about writers or how-to articles on the writing profession.
All we ask is that you keep your submission to no more than 1500 words. Art and photos should be .jpg or .gif and no more than 100kb, if possible.
No attachments, please.
Nonfiction articles for perspiring writers with accompanying artwork or photo have the best chance of acceptance. No monetary payment at this time but we promote all writers and their work.
